Manual Handling Training

Assessment

One of the major causes of absenteeism in industry is injury from manual handling. We estimate that more than 150,000 working days are lost in Mauritius every year due to poor Manual Handling. Over and above the lost days, the pain and trauma caused by manual handling injuries are quite severe.

Over 80% of workforce, including office staff, will at some time get musculo-skeletal disorders caused by poor manual handling. It is also pertinent to note that the legal and financial consequences following manual handling incidents can be quite embarrassing to employers specially if certain precautions are not taken.

One of the most important preventive measures that may be taken to tackle the problem of manual handling injuries remains TRAINING of personnel who may be exposed to manual handling tasks.
