(1) Who runs NEBOSH? ▲Up
NEBOSH advisory committee includes nominees of IOSH (UK) bodies of further higher education and sector training organisation. The Department of Education as Skills (DES), the Health & Safety Executive (HSE), the Employment National Training Organisation (ENTO), the Environmental Agency, the Confederation of British Industries (CBI), the trade Union Congress, the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), amongst others, nominate independent members to the Advisory Committee.

NEBOSH (National Examinations Board in Occupational Safety and Health in UK) was formed in 1989 as an independent examining board and awarding body. It offers a comprehensive range of qualifications designed to meet the health and safety training needs of industry, commerce and the public services.

NEBOSH’s assessment procedures comply with the best practice of examination in industry and are approved and monitored by the regulatory authorities of UK (QCA, SQA, ACCAC, CCER and QAA) and thus ensure that its awards are of high quality.

(3) Why take up NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma? ▲Up
➔ NEBOSH is designed to meet the Health and Safety or Environmental training needs of industry, commerce and the public services.

➔ NEBOSH’ assessment procedures comply with the best practice of examination in industry and are approved and monitored by the regulatory authorities of UK (QCA, SQA, ACCAC, CCER and QAA) and thus ensure that its awards are of high quality.

It is a British Qualification, widely recognised in Europe and commonwealth countries.

The NEBOSH Diploma (and even the NEBOSH Certificate) offers excellent opportunities for employment in UK and elsewhere (including Mauritius).

Unlike conventional programmes at Universities, which takes 3-4 years, this Level 6 Diploma (Equivalent to a Bsc with (Hons) Degree) may be completed within 12 – 18 months. Holders of this Diploma can eventually, after relevant experience, become Chartered Safety Practitioners of UK

The National General Certificate is primarily to enable managers, supervisors and employee representatives to carry out their health and safety duties more efficiently.

Diplomas are designed for people seeking a professional career in Health and Safety.

Holders of Diploma can eventually, after relevant experience, become Chartered Safety Practitioners of UK.

(18) Why is NEBOSH Diploma of shorter duration? ▲Up
NEBOSH Diploma has been developed by specialists in order to provide workable solutions to health and safety problems actively encountered by the industry.

While comprehensively dealing with the broad range of health and safety issues, it avoids all superfluous subjects which unnecessarily prolong the duration of the studies.

It must be pointed out that the standard of the NEBOSH Diploma is not lower on account of its shorter duration.

In fact, many holders of degrees in occupational safety and health have been known to take the NEBOSH Diploma to add the practitioner’s edge to their profile.

(19) What is the difference with the course given at the University of Mauritius and NEBOSH with Integral Training Institute Ltd? ▲Up
➔ Unlike conventional programmes at Universities, which takes 3-4 years, this Level 6 Diploma (B.Sc. Hons Degree) may be completed within 12-18 months.
